Veterans Day
Honoring All Who Served
A day we honor all of our men and women veterans for their unselfish, honorable, and dedicated service to our country. Each year, on the “...eleventh day of the eleventh month," (originally called Armistice Day), for one day, we stand united in respect for our military veterans, lost or still among us, for their service and sacrifice throughout the history of the nation.
We take this opportunity to recognize everyone who has served - "Thank you."

It was such a joy to see many of you in Nashville last week! What a wonderful time we had together!
One of the best moments from the LeadingAge Annual Meeting and Expo, happened on Tuesday morning when we were able to honor many of our veterans from member communities, in person and on the screen. In honor of Veterans Day taking place on Monday, November 11, let’s continue to honor our 5 amazing veterans that joined us in Nashville at the Music City Center:
- Jim Blanton | U.S. Navy | The Heritage at Brentwood
- Dana McLendon | U.S. Navy | The Heritage at Brentwood
- Johnnie Murphy | U.S. Marine Corps | Plough Towers Memphis
- Larry Payne | U.S. Army | Stones River Manor, Murfreesboro
- Don Fourman | U.S. Army | Shannondale, Covenant Living Community Maryville
|
Jonnie Murphy (U.S. Marine Corp)
|
Dana McLendon (U.S. Navy)
|
Our talented musician for our LATN State Night Out, Ryan Wotherspoon, performed this breathtaking version of America the Beautiful as we paid tribute to these veterans, along with many others from member communities across the nation.
To each and every one of you, we can not thank you enough for your service! May God bless you all!

With a change in party control of the White House and the Senate (with the impact on the House still to be determined as of November 6), the election’s impact is sure to be significant for aging services. Meanwhile, Congress reconvenes on November 12 for a lame duck session with a to-do list that could be long or could be punted to January for the next session of Congress to address. Please join LeadingAge’s Special 2024 Election Edition of our National Policy Pulse call on Monday, November 18!
